Nursery
________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The nursery is established and maintained to provide care for children ages 0-24 months during Sunday school and the worship service on Sundays and for children up to 36 months during AWANA on Wednesday nights so parents can participate in Sunday school classes, the worship service, and/or a Wednesday night ministry.

One of the first observations visitors make about our nursery is how safe and clean it is.  A lot of work goes into cleaning and sterilizing each week.  We think it is important to make sure the toys the kids play with are age appropriate and safe, so we carefully select our toys.  All our staff is screened and part of our child protection program.  Pagers are provided for the parents if we need you to return to the nursery for any reason.

If you are an IBC member or regular attended who is interested in serving in the nursery (during Sunday school, the Sunday morning worship service or during AWANA on Wednesday nights), please contact the church office and they will get you plugged in.

General Nursery Policies:

  • No adults, teens or other children are allowed behind the counter, except those scheduled or checked into the nursery.
  • Children ages 0-24 months are allowed in the nursery on Sundays during Sunday School and the 10:45 service. Children up to 36 months are allowed on Wednesday nights, Sunday nights, during Bible Studies, and Family Bible Week.
  • Only well-babies may enter the nursery. This means that there is no evidence of a fever, sinus drainage, excessive coughing/sneezing, infectious skin rash, etc. They may not have been on antibiotics for less than 24 hours, or have had vomiting or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours.
  • Those people wanting to use the IBC nursery during non-service times must complete a nursery usage form (available at the nursery counter), and turn it in to the church office two weeks prior to the event (with the exception of funerals). After securing the Nursery Director’s approval to use the nursery, they are then responsible to staff the nursery with adults who have been approved under the Child Protection Program.

Check-In Policies:

  • No adults, teens or other children are allowed behind the counter, except those scheduled or checked into the nursery.

 Check-Out Policies:

  • No adults, teens or other children are allowed behind the counter except those scheduled or checked into the nursery.
  • Only the parents/guardians who signed in the child (or those designated by the parent during sign-in) and have the pager are allowed to check out child (parents should not send friends, grandparents, etc.).

 Check-In Procedures:

  • Sign in the child on the sign-in sheet. Fill out all the necessary information.
  • Place name tag on child, diaper bag and any other items (sippy cups, bottles, etc.). Nametags and labels are found in the file box on the counter labeled Nursery Children.
  • Take a pager from the nursery worker.
  • Coats and infant carriers can be stored behind the check-in counter.

Check-Out Procedures:

  • As parents come for children, the check-out person/couple waits for the pager to be turned in and for the parent to initial the sign-in form. The diaper bag is handed to the parents while the child is being brought to the door. The nursery workers behind the door will simply hand the child over the door and the check-out person hands the child to the parent.
