Adult Sunday School Classes – Spring

Spring Quarter: March 5 – May 28, 2017

The Love of God
Teachers: Gil Holcomb & John McAuley
Room 107/118

The only way we can love others the way God loves is by Him living in us. God calls us to love others even when they are not lovable. He wants to see the fruit of love in our lives. God’s love is available for His children, and for those who do not know Him. Join us this quarter as we study the nature, work and extent of God’s love. It is by God’s Spirit living in us that we can truly love one another.

Tears for Shattered Lives: Jeremiah & Lamentations
Teacher: Jon Buettner
Room 105/116

Under appalling circumstances the Lord raised up Jeremiah to relate His truth to a sinful nation. Jeremiah’s ministry was both strenuous and unrewarding since the people of Judah rejected not only the prophet’s message, but the man himself. Jeremiah drew strength from the Lord, and remained faithful to his task despite overwhelming odds and indescribable feelings of self-doubt. Although written 2,500 years ago, the words of Jeremiah and Lamentations still ring true in today’s sinful world. Come and delve into these powerful books and see how God can overcome our great failures by His greater faithfulness.

Staying on Course: 1 & 2 Thessalonians
Teacher: Clay Stebbins
Fireside Room

I Thessalonians is most likely the apostle Paul’s earliest letter written about AD 51 from Corinth. 2 Thessalonians was written a short time later. They have been characterized as eschatological letters written to support new believers in times of trial. They give instruction as to godly living which includes the need to work to provide for oneself. The second coming of Christ is a highlight of almost every chapter. The two letters are often designated as Paul’s writings on last things. This word is practical as well as about the future. Come join us!!

Relationships: Purpose, Priority & the Practical (Ladies Class)
Teacher: Lynelle Love
Room 200

Have you ever experienced brokenness in a relationship? If we were honest we would say, YES! Brokenness in relationships comes from two sinners trying to do life together. How important are relationships, and what should they radiate to our own community? Our women’s study will discuss the purpose, priority and practical side of relationships. God has a great plan for His children to radiate the glory of Himself. Come to learn and discuss what God has for you, and how you can be a vital part of our faith family.

Sunday Morning Prayer Group
Led by Mike Graham
Room 223

Philippians 4:5-7 says, “Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  You are invited to take part in what Paul describes as “gentleness” or the Christ-like consideration for others. Please come and join us in giving thanks, praise, and prayer.
