Prayer Ministry

The Bible says:

“Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations?’” Mark 11:17

“All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and His brothers.” Acts 1:14

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42

We have all been called to pray for others. Intercessory prayer is essential to the health of our own spiritual lives and also the community of IBC believers. Praying together is as important as reading God’s Word. This is why a specific hour has been set aside to pray for the needs of others at IBC.

We invite you to pray with a group of brothers and sisters in Christ each Sunday morning at 9:00am in room 223. During this hour encouragement from God’s Word is read, statements of thanksgiving proclaimed and individual prayer requests are shared. We also pray for various ministries and people within the church: our pastors, church leaders and staff members; Worship team, Sunday School/Children’s Church teachers/workers, nursery, Route 3:16 and Awana. In addition, we pray for those suffering for defending their faith, political leaders, our military personnel, police/fire members, teachers and others.

You are invited to join the Sunday Morning Prayer Group whenever you are able.

Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer describes community prayer as:

A Christian community either lives by the intercessory prayers of its members for one another or the community will be destroyed. I can no longer condemn or hate other Christians for whom I pray, no matter how much trouble they cause me. In intercessory prayer the face that may have been strange and intolerable to me is transformed into the face of one whom Christ died, the face of a pardoned sinner. That is the blessed discovery for the Christian who is beginning to offer intercessory prayer for others. As far as we are concerned, there is no dislike, no personal tension, no disunity or strife that cannot be overcome by intercessory prayer.
